"NRW-USA Year 2023/2024": Liminski travels to the USA
The NRW Minister for International Affairs, Nathanael Liminski, is starting a trip to the USA on Sunday (19.11.). The occasion is the "NRW-USA Year 2023/2024" proclaimed by the state government and the US representation in North Rhine-Westphalia, which aims to highlight and deepen economic and cultural relations in various formats until next summer, according to the State Chancellery. Stops include New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with topics ranging from the future of the media to the transformation of industry, the fight against anti-Semitism and the commitment to Bonn as a UN location.
Liminski (CDU), who is also Head of the State Chancellery, will be accompanied by the US Consul General in Düsseldorf, Pauline Kao. According to the Minister, "there is no other region outside Europe with which we have comparable relations as with the United States of America". The "NRW-USA Year" should provide new impetus to "further expand this economic and value partnership".
The four-day program also includes a meeting with the Pennsylvania Secretary of Commerce, Rick Siger. NRW and the partner state of Pennsylvania maintain close relations, which reportedly have long historical roots: The first Germans emigrated from Krefeld to Pennsylvania in 1683 and founded Germantown, now a district of Philadelphia.
"Especially in times when the world seems to be coming apart at the seams, dialogue with our friends in the USA is all the more important," emphasized Liminski according to the press release. The fight against anti-Semitism and international support for Israel should be the focus of his trip.
The state government and the US representation in North Rhine-Westphalia have declared the "NRW-USA Year 2023/2024," an initiative that involves the Government, aiming to strengthen economic and cultural relationships with the United States. Liminski's trip to New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is part of this international endeavor, as he meets with figures like the US Consul General in Düsseldorf and the Pennsylvania Secretary of Commerce.
