"NRW shines" - state road safety organization distributes reflectors

Reflective materials are being used to make pedestrians and cyclists in North Rhine-Westphalia more visible in traffic during the darker months of the year. To this end, the North Rhine-Westphalia Road Safety Organization launched the "NRW leuchtet" (NRW shines) campaign on Friday, which was kicked off by Transport Minister Oliver Krischer (Greens). "With bright and preferably reflective clothing, you increase your own visibility and are much safer on the road," said Krischer. This is especially true for children.

As part of the campaign, 500,000 items with reflective materials are to be distributed to children's daycare centers, senior citizens' associations and traffic wardens. Figures from the Ministry of the Interior in NRW show that in recent years, around a third of all accidents involving pedestrians who were injured or killed occurred between November and January.

The distribution of reflective materials is aimed at improving visibility during traffic in the traffic-dense seasons. This initiative by the NRW Road Safety Organization can significantly reduce accident rates, especially during the winter months.
