Upcoming European voting - NRW ballots for Dresden postal voters: recall process
The city of Dresden is retracting 320 European election ballots due to an error. They were meant for voters in North Rhine-Westphalia, as the city announced on Wednesday. The affected individuals will be notified through the mail. Nearly 120,000 people in the Saxon capital had already received postal voting materials.
The issue with the ballot papers meant for North Rhine-Westphalia was uncovered this week after three eligible voters informed authorities. An investigation revealed that in 320 instances, it's possible that the wrong ballot papers for the European election were distributed as part of the postal voting process, according to the city.
The service provider who printed and organized the ballot papers for the city obtained a batch of incorrect European election ballot papers from their supplier.
Around 430,000 people in Dresden are eligible to vote in the European election on June 9th.
