Social circles - Notably higher amount of grievances to the ombudswoman.

The office responsible for handling complaints from children and youth in Schleswig-Holstein received a total of 761 reports in two years. In comparison to the previous time frame of 2020/2021, there were around 200 more grievances filed in 2022 and 2023. According to Samiah El Samadoni, the commissioner for social affairs in Kiel, the rise in grievances is mainly due to the growing reputation of the complaints office and the rising demand for support and guidance in the stationary care sector.

The ombudswoman for child and youth care also highlighted that 438 of these complaints stemmed from issues related to education. Astonishingly, 323 complaints in the years 2022 and 2023 were exclusively about the placement of children and young people - particularly in homes and group homes. This indicates a nearly 100-complaint jump in comparison to the previous reporting period.

The complaints office in Schleswig-Holstein, which primarily handles issues related to children and teenagers, observed a significant increase in grievances from this demographic. The rise in complaints can be attributed to the office's growing reputation and the increasing demand for input in the stationary care sector. The majority of complaints stem from educational matters, with a notable increase in complaints about the placement of children and young people in homes and group homes. This leads to a call for parliament to address and address these social affairs concerns.
