Numerical data analysis - Notable increase in insolvent businesses within NRW.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, there's been a substantial rise in corporate insolvencies. During the first quarter, the courts received 1,313 applications from companies, representing a 27.1% increase compared to last year. The state institution IT.NRW disclosed this information on Tuesday in Düsseldorf.

Most insolvency processes happened in the "Trade; Repair and Maintenance of Motor Vehicles" industry, with 240 instances. That's nearly a 30% increase compared to the initial quarter of 2023.

The affected employees numbered 15,472, which is half of what was seen the previous year. The reason for this discrepancy is that fewer prominent businesses and chains faced insolvencies this time around, according to IT.NRW.

Additionally, the number of consumer insolvencies jumped as well. The courts received 4,401 applications during the first three months of the year, marking an almost 8% climb from the year before.
