Northern tourism: more guests and overnight stays in September
The number of guests and overnight stays in Schleswig-Holstein increased in September. The state's accommodation providers reported around 1.03 million guests for the month, an increase of 10.7 percent compared to the same period last year, according to Statistics North on Tuesday. The number of overnight stays rose by 2.9 percent to just under 4.08 million.
The nine-month balance for tourism, which is important for the north, is also positive: In the period from January to September 2023, a good 7.64 million guests came to Schleswig-Holstein, 6.3 percent more than in the previous year. They booked almost 31.73 million overnight stays, an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the previous year.
The rise in tourism statistics in Schleswig-Holstein is attributed to an increase in both guest numbers and overnight stays, not just in September, but also in the nine-month period from January to September. This positive trend in tourism statistics significantly contributes to the northern tourism industry.
