Northern region demands enhanced collaboration from Midyatli.

What are potential ways to enhance cooperation between Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein further? The leader of the SPD faction in Schleswig-Holstein identifies possibilities beyond just education policy.

- Northern region demands enhanced collaboration from Midyatli.

The leader of the opposition in Schleswig-Holstein's State Parliament, Serpil Midyatli (SPD), advocates for greater collaboration between Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. She underlined, "People's lives don't end at state boundaries." Midyatli further stated, "The partnership between Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein should be as close as possible." Regarding education policy, Midyatli suggests that Minister Karin Prien (CDU) could benefit from following Hamburg's lead.

Hamburg's students usually outperform their counterparts in Schleswig-Holstein in educational assessments. Hamburg has been serving as an exemplar for quite some time now, with European delegations examining their strategies. This includes rigorous evaluations for four-and-a-half-year-olds, existing rights to full-day care, and extensive youth employment agencies. Midyatli commended these as three fantastic methods. She mentioned that these changes could be implemented fairly swiftly.

Midyatli also emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation in transportation policies. If Schleswig-Holstein fails to act, Midyatli warns, "They might miss the boat." Hamburg has refined bus and S-Bahn schedules as well as expanded their services, while Schleswig-Holstein is reducing its connections. "In the name of citizens, a unified mobility plan for the metropolitan area would be beneficial," concluded Midyatli.

The Landtag in Schleswig-Holstein could potentially benefit from Hamburg's successful transportation policies, as suggested by Midyatli.Implementing a unified mobility plan, similar to Hamburg's, could help improve connections in Schleswig-Holstein and prevent missing opportunities for cooperation.
