In response to the catastrophic flooding in Bavaria, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is sending its water rescue team. Comprised of 48 rescuers, 10 vehicles, 8 trailers, and 6 boats, the team is set to assist immediately after the offer of aid from the Bavarian government was accepted on Sunday evening.
For the coming two days, the team, provided by the DLRG North Rhine-Westphalia and the DRK Water Rescue North Rhine, will focus on ensuring the safety of dike defense measures within the impacted area. Heavy rain has pushed several gauges in Bavaria to the highest alert level 4, causing significant flooding.
