No Schick comeback yet for Leverkusen in Bremen
Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen will face Werder Bremen without center forward Patrik Schick. Schick, who has been struggling with a muscle injury recently, has trained very well, said coach Xabi Alonso on Friday. "But we'll give it a little more time." The 27-year-old Czech should be back in the Europa League next Thursday against BK Häcken from Sweden.
However, Alonso does not have any major personnel worries ahead of the game at Werder this Saturday (3.30pm/Sky). Right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who has been struggling recently, is available again, as is central defender Edmond Tapsoba. The other regular players are also fit.
Despite Patrik Schick's impressive training sessions, he won't feature in Bayer Leverkusen's Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen due to his ongoing muscle injury. Regardless, the Bundesliga leaders still boast a strong squad, with Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba back in contention, along with their Europa League encounter against BK Häcken approaching on Thursday.
