No route disruptions anticipated for the upcoming year.

Federal and state authorities are presently locking horns over the financing of the Germany ticket. Certain state entities have disclosed their intent to shut down routes due to the financial strain. So, what's the stance of Saxony-Anhalt?

Despite the added expenditure for subsidies associated with the "Germany ticket," there won't be any temporary closures of train lines in Saxony-Anhalt at first. As of now, there aren't any plans for such closures, a representative from the regional public transport company (Nasa) confirmed upon inquiry. At the moment, talks are happening concerning the expansion and modernization pact between the federal government and the states, which is supposed to serve as a significant foundation for future funding.

The states are facing economic stress due to increasing expenses. In June, Schleswig-Holstein announced reductions: it would need to save money and could not ensure full sustenance of regional rail transportation from 2025, they stated - two percent of rail services would be reduced. The goal is to bridge this gap in the foreseeable future.

Politicians from the local region are considering withdrawing from the "Germany ticket"

Another contentious issue is the fee for the "Germany ticket," which provides unlimited use of buses and trains nationwide for regional and local transportation at a cost of 49 euros per month. For the upcoming year, the transportation ministers of the states have announced a hike in prices. Recently, the districts in Saxony-Anhalt have threatened to renounce the "Germany ticket." The reason behind this is a disagreement over financial compensation between the state and the municipalities.

The ongoing discussions regarding the expansion and modernization pact in transport and telecommunications involve the federal government and the states, aiming to secure future funding. In light of budget constraints, some states, like Schleswig-Holstein, are exploring ways to reduce expenditures on regional rail transportation, which may impact the quality and availability of such services.
