Court Rulings - No reimbursement for daycare expenses in Luxembourg.
For parents who put their child in a childcare center outside Luxembourg due to a lack of kindergarten slots in Eifelkreis Bitburg-Pruem, they won't receive reimbursement from the district. The Luxembourg childcare facility is not suitable for meeting the entitlement to funding in a daycare center because of its location overseas, according to the Administrative Court of Trier (2 K 3914/23.TR) on Wednesday.
In the current scenario, two working parents enrolled their two-year-old kid in a Luxembourg kindergarten after the district initially failed to secure them a place in a daycare center or a daycare worker due to capacity constraints. When the district denied covering the expenses for the childcare facility, the parents filed a lawsuit. Throughout the legal procedure, the district found a place for the child in a kindergarten at their home district from September 2024. The judgment is not finalized.
