The AfD tried numerous times to secure a vice president in the parliament, but all their candidates were rejected by other political groups. Saxony-Anhalt's Constitutional Protection Agency has designated the AfD as being firmly right-wing extremist. Currently, Gunnar Schellenberger (CDU) holds the position of President of the State Parliament in Saxony-Anhalt. Anne-Marie Keding (CDU) and Wulf Gallert (The Left) serve as his two deputies.
