Taxes - No mail from the tax offices around Christmas
The Rhineland-Palatinate tax offices are once again observing the so-called Christmas truce this year. This means, for example, that the authorities will not order any fines or tax audits between December 23 and January 1. As Rhineland-Palatinate Finance Minister Doris Ahnen (SPD) announced on Monday, no onerous measures such as rejection notices for applications will be sent out.
"Tax refunds, on the other hand, are good news and will of course not be delayed," said Ahnen. However, tax assessment notices would also be sent out if they meant an additional payment - a distinction was not possible. There should only be exceptions to the Christmas truce if quick action is required, as otherwise there is a risk of tax losses.
