The ongoing investigation into the killing of nine-year-old Valeria from Döbeln is progressing rapidly. No definite suspects have been identified yet, said Senior Public Prosecutor Ingrid Burghart during a press conference on Friday morning. She added that witnesses are being questioned and clues are being analyzed. Burghart also remained silent on the cause of death.

Valeria vanished mysteriously on her way to school on June 3rd, and after days of searching, her body was discovered in a forest near Döbeln on Tuesday. According to initial findings, she had not been sexually violated. The Public Prosecutor's Office is looking into charges of manslaughter and murder.

The focus of the investigation, as per Burghart, is on Valeria's "social circle". This includes her family, friends, acquaintances, and any potential connections to sports clubs or school.

The residents of Döbeln aim to honor Valeria's memory on Friday evening by lighting candles together at 18.00 hours on the Obermarkt. There's also a memorial service scheduled for Sunday. Since the news broke out about Valeria's demise, people have been placing flowers, candles, and plush toys near her family's residence. The city festival scheduled for the weekend has been canceled.
