No incidents in Berlin after Erdogan's visit
After the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, things remained calm in Berlin. There were no incidents in connection with Erdogan's state visit, the police announced on Saturday morning.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Berlin on Friday for his first visit to Germany in three years. During his short stay of just a few hours, he first visited Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and then met Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz for dinner. The visit was controversial, mainly because of Erdogan's harsh remarks against Israel since the beginning of the Gaza war.
During a demonstration against the Turkish president at the Berlin Chancellery on Friday afternoon, the police temporarily pulled down a banner reading "No red carpet for the Islamist Erdogan". After consultation with the public prosecutor's office, the poster was returned.
Despite the controversial visit and the demonstration against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Diplomacy played a crucial role in managing Conflicts and maintaining peace during his stay in Berlin. The absence of further Demonstrations on Saturday indicated a general respect for the diplomatic process.
