Law enforcement agencies are... - No further incident reported at Ramstein Air Base following confusion.

Following a perceived threat situation with a knife at the Air Base in Rheinland-Pfalz, Ramstein, the Kaiserslautern police have declared everything's fine. No criminal activity took place, as they stated on Thursday night.

Initially on Wednesday evening, a man from the American military police was nabbed for allegedly waving a knife. The Kaiserslautern police, however, explained it was merely a mishap. A chef had apparently purchased a knife during his break to use in his restaurant's kitchen. Unfortunately, his boss wasn't thrilled about the idea of using a personal knife, causing an argument. A worker then alerted the US authority regarding the situation - but it seems that the details got muddled during communication. Consequently, the chef was detained. After he clarified the situation, he was set free.

Here's a police press statement about the earlier announcement.
