No Frankfurt ticket sales for Aberdeen
Due to the behavior of its fans at the Conference League match in Helsinki, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt is not allowed to sell guest tickets for the match at Aberdeen FC and must pay 30,000 euros. This penalty was imposed by the UEFA Court of Appeal due to the incidents on November 9, Eintracht announced on Monday.
"The penalty is harsh, but not unusual in terms of UEFA's previous sanction practice," said Frankfurt board member Philipp Reschke: "The sanction was expressly imposed not only for the cup throwing, but also for the repeated pyrotechnics. Our previous charges were of course the deciding factor here."
Reschke described the chances of success in the event of an appeal as "not good". According to the club, Eintracht would have to go to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas. "We will discuss the consequences and how to proceed at very short notice," said Reschke.
Eintracht Frankfurt had won 1-0 at HJK Helsinki and secured their place in the Conference League ahead of time. The game in Aberdeen will take place on December 14. Eintracht Frankfurt will face PAOK Saloniki on November 30.
Despite Eintracht Frankfurt's victory over HJK Helsinki in the Conference League, their fans' misconduct led to a ban on selling guest tickets for the match against Aberdeen FC. The UEFA Court of Appeal imposed a fine of 30,000 euros due to incidents during the game in Helsinki on November 9.
