No end in sight to the Waldhof crisis: Out of the national cup
SV Sandhausen have exacerbated SV Waldhof Mannheim's crisis. In the North Baden state cup, SVS won 4:1 (2:0) on Saturday against their rivals, who are also weakening in the 3rd soccer league. A double strike from David Otto (31st minute) and Rouwen Hennings (34th) before the break and goals from Tim Maciejewski (87th) and Abu-Bekir El-Zein (90th) sealed Mannheim's exit in the quarter-finals. For the visitors, for whom Bentley Baxter Bahn was shown a yellow card after around an hour, Pascal Sohm's interim 1-2 (68') was not enough.
The defeat at the hands of SV Sandhausen in the North Baden state cup further intensifies SV Waldhof Mannheim's struggles, as they were eliminated in the quarter-finals. This result also means that Waldhof Mannheim will not be competing in the National Cup this season.
