Enforcement pause - No bad news from the tax office at Christmas
The North Rhine-Westphalian tax offices refrain from enforcement measures and the initiation of tax audits around Christmas. NRW Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk declared a so-called Christmas truce from December 17 to 31 for the entire tax administration.
"The Christmas truce at our tax offices is a good tradition in North Rhine-Westphalia," explained the CDU politician in a statement. "Christmas is a celebration of love, contemplation and family. We don't want to disrupt it with burdensome measures."
Enforcement measures and audit reports will therefore also be dispensed with. The tax offices should only take action if rapid intervention is essential, for example due to an impending statute of limitations. Reminders are also sent throughout.
