German Basketball League - Niners coach Pastore speaks following semi-final loss: "A privilege to be a part of it"

Following their loss in the championship finals for German basketball, coach Rodrigo Pastore reflects on the season with positivity. Despite missing out on the championship, he considers it the most successful season in Chemnitz Niners' history. "I'd like to show gratitude to my players," said the Argentine coach in an interview with "Freie Presse". "It was an honor and privilege to coach each and every one of them. To witness their growth. To see them embrace our culture and standards, adopting the Niners' mindset," the 51-year-old shared.

Earlier, the team was defeated by Alba Berlin in the playoff semifinals with a score of 84:97. Previously, Pastore had led the Chemnitzers to victory in the Fiba Europe Cup six weeks before in Istanbul. In the series against Alba, the Saxons had a 2:1 lead, but couldn't capitalize on their chance to reach the finals.

Yet, the season had triumphs. "We've accomplished our goals set for the upcoming two years within just one year," stated Pastore, who will have a strong roster for the following season. "We'll be conducting exit interviews with all players, trainers, and staff. Afterward, we'll begin preparing for the upcoming season," the coach added. "My primary objective has always been to play basketball in a manner that would make our fans proud. And I've never felt we've achieved this goal as much as we did this time."
