Nine million euros in urban development funding for local authorities

In Thuringia, 31 municipalities are to receive around nine million euros in urban development funding from the state. There were 124 applications for the six state funding programs, and the municipalities can now apply for money for 34 projects, as announced by the Thuringian State Administration Office on Monday. The funding programs include urban redevelopment or adjustments in the course of demographic change in rural areas.

According to the ministry, the total amount of applications submitted amounted to around 45 million euros. "This shows how great the need is in the Free State," it said in a statement. The allocated nine million euros will now initially be reserved for the selected municipalities. However, the money still has to be applied for and then approved.

The funded municipalities in Thuringia can utilize the nine million euros for construction projects related to urban redevelopment or adjustments due to demographic changes in rural areas. This funding contribution is part of the state's efforts to support various projects submitted by 124 municipalities, with a collective request worth nearly 45 million euros.
