At a blaze in a row house on the North Sea island of Borkum, nine individuals got hurt, three severely. A dad and a mom with a one-year-old kid tried to flee by leaping from a first-floor window during the night, ending up with severe damages, as per a police spokesperson. The dad was able to clutch one of his other kids, who, together with the baby, remained unscathed, allegedly.

An additional man endured major burn wounds while making an effort to leave the house. In sum, the blaze resulted in three severe, two moderate, and four minor injuries, as outlined by the fire department's records. Three rescue helicopters from Germany and the Netherlands were mobilized.

Upon the emergency services' arrival, the first-floor flat was swallowed by flames, with various individuals trapped by smoke and fire, reported the fire department. A sizable group of firefighters fought against the blaze throughout the early morning hours. The blaze's spread to other areas of the building was prevented.
