- Night fire in Munich apartment building
In a four-story Munich residential building, a basement compartment caught fire in the early morning hours. Due to elevated carbon monoxide levels, all residents had to evacuate the building. As the fire department reported, a tenant of a neighboring house noticed smoke in the stairwell around 4:15 AM. The fire department then found "a basement compartment fully engulfed in flames, which was being used as a hobby workshop." The residents were accommodated in an ambulance until the toxic carbon monoxide was ventilated from the building. The damage is estimated to be in the five-figure range. The police are investigating the cause of the fire.
The fire department mentioned that the basement compartment, which was utilized as a hobby workshop, had a hose connected to it, featuring an other component of circular cross-section to help drain any excess water. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the hose could potentially have contributed to the spread of the fire due to its material.
