NGG leadership trio confirmed: Zeitler remains chairman

The Food, Beverages and Catering Union (NGG) confirmed its leadership trio on Tuesday in Bremen. Guido Zeitler remains chairman. 147 delegates at the trade union conference confirmed the 52-year-old with 88 percent of the votes, according to a statement. The trained hotel specialist has been at the helm of the 190,000-member union since 2018. The delegates confirmed Claudia Tiedge (47) and Freddy Adjan (55) as deputy chairpersons. The Executive Board is elected for five years at a time.

Zeitler stated that an important goal for the coming years was to anchor the collectively agreed wage more firmly. The NGG will work to stop and reverse the trend of declining collective bargaining coverage. The day before, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) had also spoken out in favor of more collectively agreed wages in Germany at the trade union conference under the motto "Building the future together". Zeitler said that the NGG would continue to increase pressure on politicians and employers for fair wages.

In the hospitality industry, trade unions like the NGG play a crucial role in negotiating fair wages and working conditions. Unterperger, the NGG's secretary-general, highlighted the impact of tariffs on the industry, stating that they can increase the cost of food and other supplies for businesses. During the leadership trio confirmation, it was noted that personal details of the delegates were handled securely to maintain privacy.
