New "Karate Kid" movie planned
Both have already appeared in "Karate Kid" films, but now Jackie Chan (69) and Ralph Macchio (62) are to star together for the first time in a new edition. The two actors announced a new "Karate Kid" project in a video message on Tuesday (local time).
At the same time, the duo announced that a worldwide search for a new talent would now begin. The Sony Pictures studio is looking for an actor between the ages of 15 and 17 with martial arts skills. Director Jonathan Entwistle wants to bring the film to cinemas in December 2024.
Macchio played the role of teenager Daniel LaRusso in three 'Karate Kid' films in the 1980s, who asserts himself against rivals through karate training. In the 2010 remake of "Karate Kid", "Rush Hour" star Jackie Chan played a wise teacher who teaches a young student (Jaden Smith) self-defense.
In this new "Karate Kid" movie, Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio will collaborate for the first time, reprising their roles from previous films. Excited fans of martial arts movies are eager to see how these two movie legends, known for their roles in "Karate Kid" films and other action flicks like "Rush Hour" and the original "Karate Kid" remake, will work together.
