2nd league - New hope at VfL Osnabrück

VfL Osnabrück are still eight points behind the relegation places, but their confidence is back. The 0-0 draw at Hertha BSC on Saturday underlined the upward trend under new coach Uwe Koschinat. "We have to keep going after the break and want to score a lot more points in the new year," announced defensive boss Maxwell Gyamfi.

Together with the outstanding Oumar Diakhite, Gyamfi was one of the guarantors of the promoted team not conceding a goal for the first time this season and snatching a point from the next top team a week after the 1-1 draw against FC St. Pauli. The fact that the Purple & Whites went into the winter break bottom of the table did nothing to dampen the mood of optimism.

"When we were standing in the circle at the end, the boys were rather unhappy. That shows the development of this team," said Koschinat, praising his team. Together with those responsible, Tobias Schweinsteiger's successor now wants to see whether the squad can be strengthened before the start of the second half of the season.
