New highway closure planned after A40 clearance in Duisburg

Drivers in the Duisburg area still need good nerves. Just a few hours after the planned opening of the Duisburg Rhine bridge for the busy Autobahn 40 on Monday morning, there will be a new freeway closure - this time on the A59 in the north of the city between Duisburg-Marxloh and Duisburg-Fahrn.

So-called roadway crossings on a bridge there need to be renewed. The highway will be closed in the direction of Dinslaken for one week from Monday (6.11.) at 10 a.m., said a spokesperson for the highway company. A further week of closures is planned from November 20 to 27, also in the direction of Dinslaken. A detour has been signposted.

The A40 Neuenkamp bridge over the Rhine is scheduled to open at 5 a.m. on Monday after a ten-day full closure. Traffic will then flow over a new bridge. The dilapidated old bridge will be closed and later demolished. Due to weight restrictions for trucks on the old bridge and the use of weighing equipment, there had been repeated obstructions there for years.

Despite the anticipated opening of the A40 Neuenkamp bridge on Monday, construction works on the A59 necessitate a closure. Traffic on the A59 will be disrupted in the direction of Dinslaken for two consecutive weeks due to required renovations of roadway crossings on a bridge, causing potential delays and alterations in traffic flow, leading to possible construction-related traffic congestion.
