The package with a significant delay has finally been delivered, but now the local post office is only open during non-working hours, making it impossible to pick it up? The Consumer Protection Center in Germany has just launched a new website where you can submit your complaints.

A new complaints portal has been launched. Now, every citizen who receives a damaged parcel or a deformed item inside can easily contact the German Consumer Center (Verbraucherzentral).

The new portal has opened, where everyone can easily learn their rights as a postal service customer in Germany. The 'Post-Ärger-Tool' will answer various questions, such as 'Am I entitled to compensation for damages?' or 'How should I proceed while exercising my rights?'

The newly launched complaints portal is accessible to all citizens

Using the new tool, customers can file a complaint or inquire about the shipment of letters and parcels at specific post office branches. This may include situations where:

  • The post office is often too busy;
  • Employees are unfriendly;
  • Parcels are consistently delayed.

Customers can also complain about access to postal services, such as having too few mailboxes in a particular area. Complaints are allowed about the post office operating at inconvenient times or irregularly.

Through the website, customers can also request Verbraucherzentral to provide more personalized advice for their specific situation. The introduction of the new Post-Ärger-Tool means that customer complaints can be more easily forwarded to the relevant companies, such as Deutsche Post, DHL, or DPD.

It is worth noting that the number of complaints about the German postal service has increased in recent years. Therefore, the new tool for handling complaints may encourage delivery companies to improve the quality of their services.

Based on four factors:

  • Reliability;
  • Coverage;
  • Timeliness;
  • Sustainability,

— the German Postal Service was ranked as the third-best in the world in 2022 by the Universal Postal Union (UPU). It is surprising that there have been so many complaints about it in 2023.

To file a complaint through the Post-Ärger-Tool, simply visit this website. There, you can use a special form to submit your message.

The portal also provides a lot of useful information regarding consumer rights for those using postal services.

The newly launched complaints portal is accessible to all customers using postal services, not just German citizens. Utilizing the Post-Ärger-Tool, customers can lodge complaints against delivery companies like Deutsche Post, DHL, or DPD, mentioning issues such as poor service, long wait times, or delayed deliveries.
