Bachelor, Master, and others - New college provides pluses in academic exams
In Saxony-Anhalt, more final exams were completed at universities last year than in 2022. The number of exams stood at 9,753, an increase of 969 (11 percent) over the previous year, according to figures from the State Statistical Office. For the first time, 1,026 graduates of the Steinbeis University were recorded.
The university had moved its seat from Berlin to Magdeburg in 2022. Without the Steinbeis University, there would have been a decrease of 57 exams, or 0.6 percent, to 8,727 final exams from 2022 to 2023.
Around 47 percent of the graduates obtained a Bachelor's degree, 36 percent a Master's. Other graduates included those who completed doctorates and teaching degrees. According to statisticians, there has been a steady increase in the number of exams for future teachers. In 2022, there were 433 such exams, but last year there were 496.
The construction of new facilities at the universities in Saxony-Anhalt could potentially contribute to more exams in the future. The growth in final exams can be partly attributed to the relocation of the Steinbeis University, which saw an increase in construction activities before moving to Magdeburg.
