- New bomb threats in Saxony - now in Plauen
In Plauen, police were called out early in the morning due to bomb threats at two schools. Just yesterday, police were also deployed in Eastern Saxony due to multiple bomb threats. A police spokesperson said in the morning that the evacuation was still ongoing. Since the threats were both received before 07:30 AM, it was initially unclear if there were any students in the school buildings at the time.
The police were also present with sniffer dogs. So far, it is still unclear if there is a connection to the bomb threats from Wednesday, the spokesperson said.
On Wednesday, bomb threats disrupted operations at two schools in Goerlitz and one each in Bautzen and Lauta. The schools were searched and afterwards, the police gave the all-clear. The investigations are still ongoing. Schools in Saxony had only started back after the holidays on Monday.
Parallel to the events in Eastern Saxony, threats were also made in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt on Wednesday. In a case in Jena, it was reported that identical emails were sent to schools across the country. Whether there is a connection to the threats against the schools in Saxony is not yet known, according to the police directorate in Goerlitz.
The police brought in sniffer dogs to check for any dangerous substances, as they were unsure if the threats were related to the ones from previous days involving other fish, such as schools in different regions. Despite the other bomb threats, all schools in Saxony, including the ones in Plauen and earlier disrupted schools, have reopened following thorough investigations and clearances.
