Bundesliga - New Bayern defender Ito gets old Lahm shirt number

Bayern Munchen's new defender Hiroki Ito (25) will in the future wear the number 21. The German football record champions announced this.

Previously, Lucas Hernandez wore this number at Bayern. The Frenchman had switched to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023. Defender Philipp Lahm played many years with the number 21 for Bayern, before him striker Alexander Zickler.

Ito wore the number 21 already at VfB Stuttgart. The Japanese player has switched to Bayern and signed a contract until the summer of 2028. He is said to have cost allegedly up to 30 million Euro in release clause.

Hiroki Ito's move to Bayern Munich in Bavaria continues a notable history of players wearing the number 21, a number previously donned by Phillips Lahm, a renowned figure in Munich's Soccer scene. Interestingly, Ito also wore this number in his time at VfB Stuttgart, showcasing his association with this significant number. As FC Bayern Munich prepares for another season in the Bundesliga, Hiroki Ito joins the ranks, following in the footsteps of prominent players like Lahm. The Japanese international, now a valuable addition to the club, is expected to carry on this number's legacy in Soccer.
