Former football goalkeeper Tim Wiese has likely severed ties with his long-time club Werder Bremen. Just two weeks after reaching an out-of-court settlement in the months-long dispute over a stadium ban for the 42-year-old, Wiese told the "Bild" newspaper (Tuesday): "I have decided not to play for the club's legends team anymore. Given everything that has been thrown at me by the club's management over the years, how I've been treated, and how they've handled certain issues, I can't do it."

Werder had imposed a stadium ban on Wiese until December 2023, which he contested in court. The ban was due to two alleged incidents during his visit to Werder Bremen's home match against Bayer Leverkusen in March 2023. At the trial's start last November, a catering staff member testified that Wiese had insulted her because of her skin color. Additionally, a second waitress reported racist jokes in the lounge where the former goalkeeper was present. Wiese denies these allegations.

Despite his disagreements with Werder Bremen's management, Tim Wiese had previously expressed his interest in participating in the club's football league events. However, following his decision to step down from the legends team, it remains uncertain if he will participate in any future league activities.
