Netzagentur: Winter gas supply secured
The President of the Federal Network Agency, Klaus Müller, is optimistic about the German gas supply in the coming winter months. Thanks to a "diversified gas supply, full storage facilities and (...) economical consumption", there are only a few residual risks, Müller said on the ZDF morning show on Friday. An "extremely cold winter" is one of the only things that could still cause the gas supply to falter. However, he believes this is unlikely.
The Gaza war is not a major risk factor either. "There are gas fields off the Israeli-Palestinian coast, but in terms of quantity and supply chains, that's not something we're currently worried about," explained Müller. However, it is still important to use gas sparingly, even if the gas price has fallen by almost 15 percent, "just to save money".
Despite the decrease in gas prices, it's crucial for consumers to continue practicing economic gas consumption for financial savings. Energy companies should also explore alternative sources of energy, such as renewables, to reduce reliance on gas in the long term.
