Soccer - Netherlands move into European Championship quarters in Wolfsburg

The Dutch national team will be staying in Wolfsburg during the European Football Championship. This was announced by the association on Wednesday. During next year's tournament in Germany, coach Ronald Koeman's team will stay at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and train at the AOK Stadium of the Wolfsburg Bundesliga women's team.

"The combination of hotel and training facilities fulfills our wishes perfectly," said Koeman. "Because we can use the VfL Wolfsburg facilities, we have a training center that meets all modern requirements."

This makes Elftal, led by ex-Wolfsburg players Wout Weghorst and Micky van de Ven as well as BVB professional Donyell Malen, the second nation to have chosen to stay in Lower Saxony. The Turkish national team will also be staying in the north-western state. The Turks will be staying in Barsinghausen near Hanover during the tournament.

The Oranje team will play the play-off winner A in Hamburg on June 16, with the second match against France in Leipzig four days later. On the last group match day, the duel against Austria will take place in Berlin. All three venues are within easy reach of Wolfsburg.
