Heavy Downpour Lashes the Region - Nearly 800 German military personnel have been stationed in Bavaria.

Approximately 800 Bundeswehr soldiers have been deployed in Bavaria to assist with the recent floods. As revealed by a spokesperson for the Bavarian Command on Sunday afternoon, the majority of the soldiers are stationed in the Pfaffenhofen area, with approximately 200 present and another 100 set to arrive later. Approximately 70 forces are currently operating in the Dillingen district.

The spokesperson also shared that 50 soldiers had been assigned to the Aichach-Friedberg district, who were then dispatched on Sunday afternoon. More troops are still en route to their designated locations. These soldiers are aiding in various tasks, such as filling and stacking sandbags. In the Günzburg region, for instance, the Bundeswehr has also provided blankets, beds, and vehicles for use. In Bavaria, numerous areas are experiencing flooding due to heavy rainfall. Streets are submerged in brown water, with many people requiring rescue from their homes via inflatable boats or helicopters. Sadly, one firefighter lost his life in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Upper Bavaria, during a rescue operation. The A9 highway is closed for approximately 50 kilometers between Allershausen and Ingolstadt owing to a dam break in the Pfaffenhofen district on the Ilm. The closure affects the section between Allershausen and Ingolstadt, and parts of the roadway are flooded, said a representative from the Upper Bavaria North police headquarters. Power outages have also been reported, leaving a large number of individuals affected.
