Regional polls - Nearly 20,000 individuals serve in managing the election process.
In the recent Thuringian local elections, approximately 20,000 men and women took up duties as election officials. Thuringia's Interior Minister, Georg Maier (SPD), expressed his satisfaction with the high voter turnout of 62.9% for the county council and mayor elections in the free cities and 61.2% for the mayor elections in the district-related cities and municipalities, viewing it as a sign of a thriving democracy. Holger Poppenhäger, the Electoral Commissioner, similarly praised the dedication of everyone involved that made the elections possible. The counting of votes commenced on Sunday in most areas, while in Gera, it wasn't concluded until Tuesday.
More than 1.74 million individuals were eligible to vote on Sunday. Elected were 13 county council presidents, five mayors of significant urban areas, a multitude of mayors, Municipal Mayors, District Councils, City Councils, and Municipal Councils. There are runoff elections scheduled for June 9th, along with the European elections.
