Emma Hinze, an eight-time world champion hailing from Cottbus, emerged victorious in the 33rd Grand Prix of Germany's sprinting event, held at the Cottbus Velodrome. This marked her third consecutive win in her hometown. In the final on Friday, she triumphed over her teammate and training partner, Pauline Grabosch. Meanwhile, Mateusz Rudyk from Poland bagged the men's event.

Due to a major storm over the Radstadion, the sprint tournament halted after the initial lap, creating safety concerns and preventing the commencement of a second lap. Lea Sophie Friedrich, who governed the fastest qualifying times, placed third among the women after winning the minor final by a 1:0 margin against Martha Bayona Pineda from Colombia.

Rudyk, a Pole, secured his second win in the men's race since 2022 against Jack Carlin from Britain. Cristian Ortega Fontalvo of Colombia secured third place following his ace performance in the race against Joseph Truman from Great Britain. The last significant test before the 2024 Paris Olympics for Germany was seizepth place finish by Maximilian Dörnbach from Cottbus. Keirin races will follow on Saturday at the Radrennbahn.
