Nations plan to collaborate on hydrogen harnessing.

Bosch currently manufactures hydrogen components for vehicles as a norm. The question of how to expedite the introduction of fresh products was the focus of a high-level meeting.

Saarland and Rheinland-Pfalz are aiming to boost the promotion and implementation of new hydrogen technologies. Saarland's Minister President, Anke Rehlinger, expressed this desire during a joint visit with her counterpart from Rheinland-Pfalz, Malu Dreyer (both SPD), at the Bosch automotive supplier in Homburg, Saarland. At this location, one can observe how hydrogen components are developed and brought to market readiness.

"Hydrogen is the music of the future," Rehlinger said on Monday. "If we can create a Saarland-Rheinland-Pfalz harmony, then we would have made a big achievement for the people in our region." Rehlinger believes these states can contribute significantly to this process.

The focus is on ensuring the technology doesn't stagnate and can enter the market more efficiently. Rehlinger asserted, "It's about guaranteeing that this technology doesn't slow down, doesn't get stuck in its current state, but can penetrate the market further."

The discussion revolved around how politics can facilitate a speedy market entry for developed products. Dreyer mentioned that companies are recognizing the slowness of the process. "So, in future, will it be about whether subsidies are needed to optimize and expedite matters?" she queried. What can we do to improve our networking?

Employing approximately 4400 people, of whom 1300 are from Rheinland-Pfalz, the Bosch site in Homburg showcases the interconnectedness of these regions' industries. Dreyer emphasized, "We can never view industry as an isolated entity, but rather in tandem." She and Rehlinger have collaborated previously to promote the hydrogen concept.

Bosch, a leader in the region with its hydrogen activities at the Homburg site, views itself as a forerunner in electromobility transition. They already produce hydrogen components for mobile fuel cells that power electric motors in vehicles and hydrogen tank systems currently in the works. Bosch also has a hydrological cycle as a pilot plant on-site, which creates green hydrogen from 2021, stores it, and utilizes it for fuel cell cars, tractors, and forklifts, and industrial applications.
