International squad - National soccer team receives visit from Federal President.

"Exciting football tournaments really get our hearts racing, including mine, especially when they're happening in our own country," stated Steinmeier after having a chat with the DFB team which included captain Ilkay Gündogan and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. "Frankly speaking, the amount of determination I see is overwhelming. I can sense that many Germans are crossing their fingers, hoping for the players to be crowned European champions," added Steinmeier.

The DFB's head, Neuendorf, highlighted how "deeply grateful we are for the Federal President's presence with us." The meeting was arranged on the 14th of July in Berlin, and the EURO finals will be held at the Olympic Stadium. The team will continue to practice in Thuringia until Friday, after which they'll move to the tournament headquarters in Herzogenaurach. The opening game of the EURO tournament will be played on the 14th of June in Munich against Scotland.
