National player Hummels out early in Stuttgart
National soccer player Mats Hummels was substituted early in Borussia Dortmund's Bundesliga match at VfB Stuttgart, visibly suffering from an injury. The 34-year-old BVB professional had to leave the pitch in the 28th minute and was replaced by Ramy Bensebaini. A diagnosis was not initially available on Saturday.
Hummels had been called up by national coach Julian Nagelsmann for the next two international matches on November 18 in Berlin against Turkey and three days later in Vienna against Austria. The DFB squad will begin their preparations for the two matches on Monday in Frankfurt/Main.
Despite his early exit in the Bundesliga match, Mats Hummels' absence from VfB Stuttgart's field may not affect Germany's defense, as the national team also relies on him in their forthcoming matches against Turkey and Austria in Bundesliga rival Borussia Dortmund's place. The upcoming international fixtures on November 18 and 21 will require the services of Hummels, even though he was replaced by Ramy Bensebaini in the 28th minute of the Stuttgart encounter due to an injury.
