National handball player Weber must fear for European Championship
National handball player Philipp Weber must fear for his participation in the European Championship. The SC Magdeburg backcourt player had to leave the pitch after 22 minutes in the opening game of the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday with a suspected serious knee injury. In the match against Al-Khaleej, the 31-year-old's knee buckled outwards when he landed. Weber was subsequently unable to leave the pitch under his own power and was carried off the pitch. An exact diagnosis is still pending.
Weber had played in the international match against Egypt at the weekend, scoring two goals. He then traveled to Saudi Arabia, where SC Magdeburg will defend its title at the Club World Cup.
Despite his impressive performance with two goals in the international match against Egypt, National team member and SC Magdeburg's handball player Philipp Weber might miss the upcoming European Championship due to a suspected serious knee injury suffered during the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Even though Weber was a key player in Magdeburg's club title defense, his injury could potentially affect his participation in Germany's Bundesliga handball league as well.
