Sport - National handball player Drux on the verge of a comeback
National handball player Paul Drux is about to make his comeback at Füchse Berlin. The 28-year-old backcourt player will be in the squad for the first time this season for the Bundesliga clash with TBV Lemgo Lippe on Saturday evening (7 p.m./Dyn), as the capital city club announced on Friday.
Drux tore his Achilles tendon in an international match for the DHB team in April and has not played a game since. "I'm exactly on schedule with the doctors, who had predicted six to eight months, and I'm very happy that the time is finally over," said the backcourt player about his imminent return.
As the Foxes are missing Matthes Langhoff at left back until the end of the year, the Berlin club is looking forward to the return of its key player - also with a view to the tight battle for the championship title. The Foxes are currently second behind SC Magdeburg, who are level on points.
Nevertheless, Drux will be missing from the home European Championships in January. The Gummersbach native is not in the extended 35-man squad. National coach Alfred Gislason is only allowed to field players from this pool at the finals from January 10-28.
