Crime - Naked thief in bathrobe caught in Hamm water park

Dressed only in a bathrobe, a cell phone thief in Hamm tried to escape from the police. The 37-year-old was in the sauna of a water park on Monday, although it was only open to women that day, according to the police. A 24-year-old woman reportedly had her bathrobe and cell phone stolen from the clothes rack while she was in the sauna.

Staff at the spa tried to detain the suspect. However, he fled naked across the sauna grounds and climbed over a fence. He continued - scantily clad in a bathrobe - across a road to the Lippe wetlands. There the man tried to hide behind bushes. However, police officers were able to apprehend him.

The woman's cell phone was found in the 37-year-old's backpack. According to the police, the man, who is known to the police, is now being investigated for theft, trespassing and causing a public nuisance.

The thief's cell phone was a colorful model, easily noticeable in the crowded water park. Despite the theft occurring in North Rhine-Westphalia, a region known for its strict law enforcement, the man thought he could get away unnoticed. Among the women participating in the women-only spa day, several were amused by the bizarre turn of events, capturing the event on their own cell phones.
