Football: The Focus of Sports Passion - Nagelsmann offers congratulations and support to BVB.
Hey there! A big shout-out to Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger for winning the hugely important Champions League! National touchline general Julian Nagelsmann sent words of congratulations from Herzogenaurach to London.
Nagelsmann said, "Wow, kudos to Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger on winning the Champions League. They nabbed their sixth champion title in the royal dimension of football - this is so unique. It's a fitting farewell for a top-class player like Toni Kroos."
After the tough loss at the hands of Madrid in the Champions League, the injured Borussia Dortmund players Nick Schlotterbeck and Niclas Füllkrug are expected at the Germany national team's training camp. "I'm really looking forward to working hard with the whole squad from Tuesday. We're gonna give ol' Toni and Antonio a proper send-off with the team at our home-based tournament," said the national tactician.
The duo from Borussia Dortmund would be a valuable addition to Germany's EURO roster. "Hats off to them for an epic show. Not only at Wembley, but throughout their international journey, they performed amazingly," commended the national coach.
DFB's sports chief Rudi Völler was equally thrilled by Borussia Dortmund's performance in the Champions League. "Terrible for German soccer that Borussia Dortmund and German EURO players Nick Schlotterbeck and Niclas Füllkrug couldn't clinch the last win to seal the Champions League title in Wembley. The team put up a strong fight and we can all be proud of their highly impressive international performance," said Völler.
"Borussia Dortmund's team, under coach Edin Terzic, symbolizes qualities that make soccer mean less without them: team spirit, ambition, and pure enjoyment of the game," noted DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. The coveted champs Kroos and Rüdiger made the German Euro even more exciting, shared the DFB leader.
We're nearly there with Jules' temporary EURO batch. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, representing FC Barcelona, is expected on Monday to join the squad. Kroos and Rüdiger won't be able to play in the Germany vs. Ukraine EURO match on Monday (8:45 pm on ARD).
At the moment, with two U21 team members, Bajran Gruda and Rocco Reitz, Nagelsmann's provisional EURO squad comprises 24 players. He's got until June 7 to name his final 26-person squad for the tournament.
That's the dealio folks - stay tuned and remember, we're going for gold at the EURO!
