Chemicals make cosmetic products such as nail polish or lipstick longer-lasting - they get into the environment but are difficult to break down. Cosmetics company gitti does without such additives. Founder Jennifer Baum-Minkus shares her struggles in the cutthroat Beauty industry in the podcast "Startup - Completely Honest" on ntv.
In 2020, Jennifer Baum-Minkus enters the TV studios of "Die Höhle der Löwen" (Shark Tank). For the first time in the history of the Vox show, all investors want a deal with Jennifer. She succeeds with a natural ingredient nail polish and without a foul smell.
The deal with the Sharks doesn't come through in the end due to differing visions, but Jennifer continues on her own. The products of her startup gitti Conscious Beauty are now well-known to a large audience. Over 2.5 million products have been sold since its founding. In addition to nail polish, there is also mascara, eyeshadow, lipsticks, and much more. Recently, the startup raised around 1.5 million Euros through Crowdinvesting to grow and expand.
How can a small startup survive in such a competitive market as the Beauty industry? Why don't the big Beauty players use natural ingredients? Where does the hype around natural cosmetics come from? Jennifer answers these questions and more in her conversation with Janna. She also reveals which new product she plans to stir up the market with and how important a partner is in founding a company.
You can listen to the entire conversation with Jennifer Baum-Minkus in the ntv podcast "Startup - Completely Honest"**.
After securing funding through Crowdinvesting, gitti Conscious Beauty expanded its product line beyond nail polish, now offering mascara, eyeshadow, lipsticks, and more. Inspired by the success of gitti in the competitive Beauty industry, other start-ups might consider utilizing Crowdfunding for their own ventures in "The Lion's Cave" or similar platforms.
