MV has comparatively many charging points for e-cars
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has a comparatively high number of charging points per registered electric vehicle. Electric car owners can access 1235 charging points in the state, according to data from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). This means that, in purely mathematical terms, 14.6 electric vehicles registered in the north-east share a charging point. Compared to the rest of Germany, the state performs very well and is in second place in the table behind Saxony. According to the figures, a good 18,000 electric vehicles were registered in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by the end of June.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald is ahead in terms of infrastructure for charging electric cars: according to the data, only 12.5 electric cars have to share a charging point there. In the city of Schwerin, it is one for every 13.1 electric cars, putting it in second place. The district of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte carries the red lantern in the state. There is only one charging station for every 17.5 e-cars. Between January and June, 247 charging points were added in the state.
According to the ranking, the national average is 21.1 cars per public charging point. The front-runner is the city of Ingolstadt (4.2 cars per charging point), with the city of Wiesbaden in last place by some distance (115.7). In total, there were almost 97,500 publicly accessible charging points at the time.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the advantage of electric car ownership is evident in Vorpommern-Greifswald, where each charging point serves only 12.5 electric vehicles. As more consumers switch to electric cars, they may find it easier to find charging points in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, with an improvement of 247 charging points added between January and June.
