European Union Announcement: EU Declares Action Against High Gasoline Prices - MV Greens expressing discontentment with outcome of European polls.
Initially, the Green Party was at around 12% in the country. Previously, in 2019, they had nearly doubled this at 20.5%. Shockingly, at that time, Rostock Green politician Niklas Nienaß had managed to get into the European Parliament, which he won't be able to achieve this time around.
The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's interests in the EU will now be overseen by Hannah Neumann from the Greens, who resides in Berlin with her family. As per Katharina Horn, one of the dual leaders of the Greens in MV along with Ole Krüger, "Hannah has done impressive work over the past five years, particularly in German-Polish partnerships for the protection of the Oder, Haff, and Baltic Sea."

Despite the Green Party's disappointing performance in the recent European elections, attracting only 12% of votes compared to their 20.5% in 2019, Schwerin's Niklas Nienaß missed out on a seat in the European Parliament. The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's representation in the EU will now shift to Hannah Neumann from the Green Party, known for her notable work in German-Polish partnerships for the protection of the Oder, Haff, and Baltic Sea.
In light of the European elections results, reactions from local municipalities in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, such as Schwerin, have yet to be observed. Meanwhile, earlier projections suggest Alliance 90/The Greens may not yield as many seats in the EU as they did in previous elections. As the dust settles, the future direction and actions towards reducing high gasoline prices within the EU remain to be seen.
