Reading promotion - Musical "The Lion King" supports book towers project
The musical "The Lion King" has taken on the patronage for the reading promotion project "Book Towers" for the coming school year. "Reading fosters creativity and opens children the door to new worlds. We are excited to support this wonderful project and inspire children to experience their own creative adventures in the world of books," said Sonja Plesse, deputy theater manager at Stage Theater in the Harbor.
The project "Book Towers" was founded by Hamburg children's author Ursel Scheffler (85) in 2011. Children from a city, school, class or reading group read books together, called "tower bricks," which are each ten centimeters high. The goal is to create a book stack that reaches the height of a previously chosen tower.
For the best school classes, there are special rewards, including backstage tours and visits to the "Lion School" - there, children rehearse for their performances as "Simba" and "Nala." As the main prize, the best elementary school class wins a visit to see "The Lion King."
Sonja Plesse, expressing her excitement about supporting "Book Towers," mentioned that the musical "The Lion King" will inspire children to embark on their own creative literary journeys. Ursel Scheffler, a renowned children's author from Hamburg, initiated the project, which encourages children to collaborate and create tall book stacks, engaging in literature and even having an opportunity to participate in "The Lion King" through its associated musicals.
