Musical "Dance of the Vampires" celebrates premiere in Hamburg
After five years, the cult musical "Dance of the Vampires" is back in Hamburg: on Sunday evening, the musical about the charismatic vampire Count von Krolock celebrated its premiere at the Stage Operettenhaus on the Reeperbahn. Numerous celebrities did not want to miss the midnight ball of dancing vampires, including singers Stefanie Hertel and Florence Kasumba, actor Sky Du Mont and his ex-wife Mirja Du Mont, investor Ralf Dümmel and presenter Anna Heesch as well as bestselling author Ildikó von Kürthy with her son Gabor.
Rob Fowler shone in the production as the vampire Count von Krolock, who quickly won over the premiere audience. But Till Jochheim as vampire researcher Professor Abronsius and Vincent Van Gorp as his shy assistant Alfred, who set off to Transylvania to find vampires, were also convincing. Kristin Backes plays the innkeeper's daughter Sarah as both innocent and curious about life. In the end, the Count is able to win Sarah over at the annual midnight ball at his castle and sings the title song "Eternity begins tonight" with her.
The musical by Jim Steinman and Michael Kunze, based on the film of the same name by Roman Polanski, celebrated its world premiere in Vienna in 1997. Since then, "Dance of the Vampires" has been performed in many European countries as well as in the USA and Japan. It was previously shown in Hamburg from 2003 to 2006 and from 2017 to 2018.
The musical "Dance of the Vampires" has a rich history, having been performed in various countries like Austria, the USA, and Japan since its premiere in Vienna in 1997.
