Exhibitions - Museum Schloss Moritzburg: Works by cooperating artists
The Museum Schloss Moritzburg in Zeitz (Burgenland district) is dedicating an exhibition to the special creative results of the collaboration between a ceramicist and a graphic artist. Following the opening of "The Four Elements" on Saturday, the works of ceramicist Ludwig Laser and painter and graphic artist Peter Zaumseil will be on display until February 25, 2024.
According to the museum, the two artists have enjoyed a long and productive friendship. Zaumseil's characteristic figures adorn Laser's vessels made using the raku technique.
Laser was born in Plauen (Saxony) in 1960 and now works in Obergeißendorf in Thuringia. According to the museum, he is a master of creating crystal glazes on clay and porcelain. His raku firing creates "vessels and objects inspired by the Far East in a reduced formal language".
Zaumseil was born in Greiz (Thuringia) in 1955 and now lives and works in Vogtland. In addition to his paintings, he has made a name for himself with his woodblock prints. According to the museum, Zaumseil succeeds in capturing moods through his subtle choice of colors. He also plans to publish his new artist's book "Wasser ist Leben - die weiße Elster von der Quelle bis zur Mündung" with 50 woodcuts to coincide with the exhibition.
